A PUBLIC inquiry will take place this month as part of a planning appeal for a proposed residential gypsy and traveller site.

The application for a residential site at Brackenfreya Woods in Brackenborough Road, Louth, was turned down by planners last year.

Applicant Jo Golding is now appealing  for change of use to allow caravans on 11 pitches on the site. Last May, East Lindsey District Council turned down the application as they felt it was unsuitable.

The site received planning permission in 2004 for log cabin holiday accommodation.

Local resident Rob Mapletoft, who represented a group of residents who objected to the plans, told Louth Town Council on Tuesday about the appeal.

He said: “The site is not suitable for residential use. No other sector of the community would be allowed to develop there. The site is not fit for habitation.”

The plan has received support from the East Midlands Gypsy Liaison Group.

The public inquiry will take place at Louth Town Hall on March 30 and 31 starting from 10am.
