MARKET Rasen ladies held a charity golf competition for the Go Pink breast cancer charity.

The entrants – looking pretty in pink – enjoyed the sunny spring weather and had great fun while supporting a worthy cause.

The winning pair were Tilly Lawrence and Marilyn Wilkinson with a tremendous 44 points.

Second were Jackie Parker and Rosemarie Lawton with 41. Third were Di Newton and Margaret Dixon, also with 41.

Prizes of Pink Rose Wine was donated by the Market Rasen branch of Tesco (Elizabeth Hart). The women raised more than £200 on the day through various competitions alongside the golf.

The Coronation Foursomes was won by Jackie Parker and Rosemarie Lawton with 35 points.

Second was Nicky Hewson and Liz Wride 34 and third, Ronnie Sullivan and Jean Wood with 34.

Jackie and Rosemarie will represent Market Rasen at the forthcoming area finals.

Rosemarie Lawton won a special St George's Day competition with 38 points. Second, on countback, was Sue Archer.

Grimsby Golf Club held a St George's Day betterball stableford.

The competition was well-attended and, after a couple of frosty mornings earlier in the week, the competitors were blessed with some excellent spring weather.

In third place were Grimsby members Trish Goodwin and Elaine Hoggarth, who carded a creditable 43 points, taking the position on a better back nine of 23 points from John Broddley and Dave Pearce, who could only manage 21 points on the back nine.

The scoring was very close for first place with two teams returning 45 points.

The back nine countback came into play and Grimsby members Martin Mooney and Kevin Peel ran out overall winners with a better back nine score of 25 points from Jim Balderson and Terry Trott, who scored 22 points on the back nine.

The club thank Powerplay Disco for the donation of the trophy.

Women at The Manor, Laceby played a pairs betterball competition and the winners, with 36 points, were Carol Lake and Sheila Greenhalgh.

Second were Misse Mason and Asa Baker with 32 points and third, with 30 points, were Mary Shaw and Ann-Marie Thompson.

The first league match of the season was played against a women's team from Gainsborough, and the Manor women won 4-0.

Immingham Golf Club held a fourball betterball medal, with two scores to count on each hole.

The competition was played off full handicap, with a shotgun start.

The winners, with a net 117, were Derrick Spry, Jon Altoft, Paul Goodchild and Lennie Hill.

In second, on a net 123, were Alex Peacock, captain Chris Connaughton, Sandy Glass and Patrick Gilboy.

In third were Wayne Sewell, Brian Simpson, Chris Bryant and Matty Clarke on 125.

Fourth, with 126, were Micheal Cardy, Keith Offiler, Brian Chadburn and Trevor Oliver.
