We're Rasen stakes!
WE'RE working together in real harmony for the good of the town.
That was the sentiment of Town Mayor Steve Bunney alongside Market Rasen Business Improvements Group (Mr Big) as a record 50 stall-holders traded at the second Saturday market as part of the Portas Pilot project.
Not only was it the biggest and best market so far, the Improvements Group announ- ced it is taking its own Mr Big Shop in the market place.
As reported, Market Rasen was one of a group of towns nationwide to receive funding for a project to regenerate the high street.

The town was selected as one of 12 from 370 applications to become a Portas Pilot town and was awarded a £100,000 grant.
The project is being driven nationwide by TV retail guru Mary Portas, but in Margate there has been a well-publicised falling out between the local council and their Business Development Portas Cash Group.
But that is not the case in Market Rasen, claimed Councillor Bunney.
He said: "We are coming together and delighted to share in a partnership.
"The Business Improvements Group is bringing a dynamism to the town, which can be seen in this market.
"We are determined as a town council to develop the market place and make it a vibrant part of the town.
"And they are doing it all for nothing – and all as volunteers."
Jackie Smith is the markets director of Mr Big.
She said: "It is fantastic to see all the stalls and so much going on.
"It is great that so many people are getting up early on a Saturday morning.
"That makes sure it can all happen."
