Rebel MPs fear Royal Mail part-privatisation plan
GREAT Grimsby MP Austin Mitchell is threatening to rebel against the Government over plans to part-privatise the Royal Mail.
Mr Mitchell is one of 66 Labour MPs to have signed an early day motion (EDM) warning that selling a minority stake in the postal group would risk fracturing "one of Britain's greatest public services".

Grimsby MP Austin Mitchell has said that selling part of Royal Mail is not popular.
The motion notes that Labour's annual conference last year supported a vision of a wholly publicly-owned Royal Mail Group.
It states: "Part-privatisation is not the answer."
Mr Mitchell said: "You can't reform the post by undermining it or by giving a competitor a major say in its governances.
"Privatisation has given us the high prices charged by all the utilities, inefficiencies and accidents on the railways and the billing disaster of British Gas.
"It's not popular. It has not worked and we're in a new world."
