But undoubtedly, one of the biggest draws will now be the appearance of the Red Arrows – who have performed some 4,000 displays worldwide in over 50 countries.
Adam Johnson, managing director of Cleethorpes Airshow Limited, organisers of the event, said: "There is little doubt that the Red Arrows are the world's leading aircraft display team and it is a great privilege for us to have them attending our first-ever festival of flight to bring it to an exciting close on the Sunday.
"This provides even more of a reason for visitors to come and be a part of this totally free and exciting event and presents businesses with an even greater opportunity to showcase themselves and their products to everyone attending over the weekend."
Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, Councillor Chris Shaw, said that the event will attract thousands of people to the region.
"It is marvellous news that a world-famous act like the Red Arrows will be performing in Cleethorpes.
"With events like this, the Armed Forces Day and the 1940s Weekend, Cleethorpes will get itself a great reputation for being 'the' place to come for big events and great entertainment.
"This is a marvellous resort and it is clear that organisers are keen to put on some really prestigious, national acts and events. It is a very exciting time for the area and I can't wait to see the Red Arrows' performance."

“It's all great news but I just bet NELC put the dampeners on it somehow by insisting on the usual over the top security and H&S etc.”

“Might I suggest if Nelc are looking to form a tourism department next year then employ these local people - what a great event for the local area bringing in hundreds of thousands of pounds of revenue for the area at no direct cost to local people - is there a leas son to be learnt ?”

“I hope the GT will print a FULL time table of events and in GOOD time.
Usually they print the story after it's been and gone and many people have missed it.
I agree with smokebelch and Gy_Pete.
Cleethorpes needs more crowd pulling events.
Oh yes, hope the weather is good for that week-end.”
