ONLY three weeks into the council's partnership with Balfour Beatty, and already councillors are demanding results.

Marc Cole, NELC's executive director of regeneration, was asked by councillors if the partnership, which came into force on July 1, had achieved any "quick hits".

But his response that the "smooth transfer of service" was "quite a big hit in itself", was not the answer that members of the regeneration, housing and environment scrutiny panel were looking for.

Councillor Peter Bailey (Lib Dem, Yarborough) said: "When we were sold this idea, we were told by Balfour Beatty that when they took over we would see the quick wins. They should have been able to do something within three weeks."

Mr Cole said the firm had been asked to come up with a regeneration plan by the end of September, adding: "Three weeks in is a big ask. I would much rather give them a couple of months to come back to us with a considered opinion."
