Restaurant at country hotel in Laceby scoops prestigious award
EVEN the salt is homemade at The Comfy Duck, so it's no surprise it has been crowned a Lincolnshire cuisine winner.
The restaurant, based at the Best Western Oaklands Hall Hotel, in Laceby, scooped first place in The Lincolnshire Life County Cuisine Awards A Taste of Excellence 2012-13.

A secret diner rated the restaurant's fresh, homemade food as the best and crowned it the winner of the House Of Townend Best Restaurant category.

He said: "We pride our food here on being fresh, ingredients locally bought and seasonal.
"Everything is homemade, from our bread and butter to the chutney and even salt."
The Oakland's employs three chefs, as well as three trainee apprentice chefs from the Grimsby Institute.
"We were one of more than 300 restaurants nominated for the award by our customers," said Mr Bennett.
"We then had a secret diner come in who selected us as the final three.
"Just to get to that point was amazing, but to actually come first was fantastic."
Richard Matthews, general manager of the hotel, said: "Twelve months ago we did not even have a restaurant, so to get to this point is a huge effort by all staff.
"We are now recognised as the best in Lincolnshire which is a testament of how good and renowned we are.
"Valentine's is running over three days here – Thursday, Friday and Saturday – and there are still spaces for people to book a romantic meal.
"Our restaurant does get very busy, especially on Friday and Saturday and we do advise people to book before they come.
"We will strive to now get even more awards for the hotel and restaurant."
