"When I was rehearsing for the part it was very strange because I just performed with the assistant director and none of the other actors.
"I have never been to Grimsby, so I'm a Grimsby virgin and I am enjoying it so far.
"My character Brad is all American and he is the guy everyone wants to be – the caption of the football team and an A-star student too.
"This show is very different and it is also contrast to my TV work because you can't make a mistake on stage."
Sam enjoys both television and theatre work because he gets a "different buzz" from both of them.
He said: "I love every aspect of performing from singing, dancing and acting, but next I would like to have a go at TV presenting.
"After the show I will have three weeks off, and hopefully have a holiday abroad somewhere.
"And after my break, I have the musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. I will play the lead called Adam and it is set in the 1850s."
