MICK Rogers was the star of Sandilands Golf Club's medal competition, taking the division A title in style.

Rogers took the honours ahead of 31 other players with a 66.

Mike Bothamley came second also carding 66 but beaten on back nine countback. Geoff Nelson won division B with 66. John Thompson came second with 71.

Later on Monday the Ladies played in the Granny's Cup a medal Qualifying Competition.

Winner with 71 was Ann Freeman. Jenny Geeson came second with 72. Freeman was the Silver Qualifier and Jenny the Bronze Qualifier.

Sandilands Seniors also played an away match at Manor Laceby Golf Club, eventually losing 6-3.

Their winning pairings were Brian Marks and Alan Metcalfe, and Dave Smith and Philip Knapton. John Thompson and Richard Parker, and Jack Taylor and Derek Hewett both halved their matches.

At Waltham Windmill, seniors played the Trail Poke Lane trophy for the over 70s, while the younger members played the July medal.

The winner of the Trail Poke Lane trophy was B.Goffin with 41 points.

A.Dobson came second with 40 points, and third was J.Allenby and S.Hibbett, both on 40 points.

The winner of the July medal was J. Dickson with a net 65.

The Waltham Windmill Ladies also played their July Medal, with Judy Coggan first with a net 67, Joyce Jewitt second with 70, and Pam Moxon third on 72.

In a mixture of sunshine and overcast conditions, Tetney seniors played their July medal competition.

Division one required the inevitable countback to separate Glyn Davies (90-20=70) followed by Ian Chadwick (90-20=70). Third was Ray Millard, 90-19=71.

Division two was topped by Roly Avison (92-24=68), winning his second consecutive medal. Second was Dave Bingham (96-23=73) and third Keith Taylor (99-25=74).

The Grimsby Golf Club, ladies played for the Gordon Cup, which is a flag competition.

The winner was Pauline Smith finishing after 18 holes with her extra shots back up the first and on the green.

Runner-up was Sue Collis finishing on the first fairway.
