A GRIMSBY teenager is on the ball and ready to win a national competition inspired by Wayne Rooney.

Hollie Dieudonne, 17, of Cooper Road, has seen off the competition of thousands of other young hopefuls to make it into the last 14 of Sky One hit Wayne Rooney's Street Striker.

The competition was inspired by how the Manchester United and England favourite started honing his skills on the street.

Hollie, a striker for Grimsby Town ladies, has passed a trial stage, and a obstacle course-style challenge laid on by Rooney, to reach the latter stages.

Throughout, she has been filmed by Sky One, who have visited her at home to film a character profile of the Louth's King Edward School sixth form pupil.

She said: "It feels amazing, I can't believe I am on it. To go from thousands of people wanting to be on the show to making the final 14 is great."
