This is Grimsby

REGIONAL Minister Rosie Winterton arrived in Immingham yesterday – by boat – and was given a  glimpse of just what the UK’s biggest port has to offer.

The high-ranking politician spent three hours with senior executives at Associated

British Ports, gaining a fuller understanding of one of

Yorkshire and the Humber’s key economic drivers.

The story also appears in full in today's Grimsby Telegraph.

These are postings on the website of a nothing newspaper in the back end of beyond. Nobody gives a tinker's cuss what's said here, provided it's legal, decent, honest and truthful.”

    “Bernard, Sth Killingholme.
You may indeed be right old son. I didn't say who was to blame. I know that. I kept to the facts. The two local Labour MP's are doing their best to get the irresponsible decision reversed (At least give them credit for that) They may not succeed however.
Then we get the bandwaggon jumping Victoria making statements about Conservative Policy that isn't declared Policy.
Having said what you did about Labour waiting to get the election over, let me ask you this. If the Conservatives win the next election and IF Victoria is one of the winners do you thing the decision on retrospective rate collection will be reversed?
I am still of the mind that if the Conservative Front Bench declared, as part of their election programme, that in Government they would scrap the retrospective claims the existing Government (they are no longer Labour in my mind) would be forced to do something similar to preserve their chances of being returned to power.”

“Does policy really matter when she's such a Babe? Can we trade Mitchell and McIssaac in for one of these, please?”

    “Neptune. Dogger Bank.

I think you wil find Labour are NOT "Fighting to get the unjust unfair and wrong retrospect charges withdrawn" as it was Labour's greed that introduced them.

Or are we to blame the Conservatives as they allways get the blame for all the incompetant mistakes that La bour make?

Neptune. it's not the Conservatives who are"deceiving and playing political con tricks" You will find the real culprits are Labour the ones who now saying that they want this unfair tax removed but we all know that they are stalling for time as it won't matter once the election is out of the way”

“Victoria Ayling, prospective parliamentary candidate for Grimsby, announces that a Tory government will end the retrospective Port rate demands. Hurrah.
Victoria may not be the best source of Tory policy. She belongs to a different party to Dave¿s Compassionate Conservatives .She¿s announced already that a futile motion of regret in the Lords has solved the problem but it didn¿t and couldn¿t.
However hope springs eternal and if Victoria can get the Tory front bench to commit themselves to cancelling the retrospective demands if they win the election then the Government will be forced to follow suit. But it¿s got to be done quickly before the financial year ends and recovery proceedings begin.
Time for the Tories to put up or shut up. If they don¿t they¿re deceiving and playing political con tricks.
My bet is They¿ll probably talk the talk but not walk the walk. They¿ll do nothing.
It¿s called opportunism. Meanwhile Labour¿s port MPs are still fighting to get the unjust unfair and wrong retrospective charges withdrawn. This is a fight only Labour can win.”
