Barton AC Open Cross Country: Runners fight for top places
WITH spring in the air and the cross country running season almost over for another year, athletes from around the region took the opportunity to have a blast around a flat parkland course.
The annual Barton AC Open Cross Country meeting was a success once again, pulling in runners from both sides of the Humber – ensuring some healthy competition and decent quality.

In the combined junior, senior and veteran men's race, the Wolds Veteran Runners Club team of Mick Jagger, Andy Pegg and Dave Wilson took the first team prize, with Jagger finishing fourth overall on the Baysgarth Park course.
The top spot went to promising Under-20 young gun James Lamswood, of Kingston Upon Hull AC.

Veteran Mark Nettleton had a good run for the host club in eighth. A large contingent of Wolds Vets and five Cleethorpes AC members featured in the field of 67.
Yorkshire clubs dominated the leading positions in the junior, senior and veteran ladies' race. Skyrac's Nicola Squires took first place overall.
Louth Junior Nicola Moss was the first home from a local club, sneaking into tenth place.
Susan Hobbins, of Wolds Vets, had a good run to finish 13th.
Lincsquad member Rachel Love, Barton AC's Pirjo Kivelainen, Wolds Vet Jane Morley and Grimsby Harrier Helen Robinson also had good runs.
