Russell Reveals goes back to the 1950s and 1960s
Back then you lived in communities where people knew each other, talked to each other and helped each other. How many nowadays even know the names of their next door neighbours?
We could trust bankers and even politicians. The police were respected. Town centres were to be enjoyed, not no-go areas at weekends, the nationwide drug problem was not even contemplated.

BETTER DAYS? The footbridge at Grimsby Docks station forms a backdrop to this picture from the late 1950s/very early 1960s.
Leisure time was spent with other people or in family activities. It had to be for there were no big screen tellies, internet or computer games in those days. We didn’t have much money, but we made the most of what we had and enjoyed it.
Things are obviously far better now – where would we be without the internet, our mobiles, our cars, electronic appliances and the like? Our homes with all mod cons are vastly superior to any that have gone before. Foreign holidays are regarded as a right, a car an absolute necessity.
