Protestors outside Grimsby Swimming Pool
Tempers ran high when protestors went inside and had some heated exchanges with council officers.
It was during an event in which North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) were showing off 3D models of the new plan and asking for the public’s views.

“"Please do look at the Burnett , Shaw Mater plan on line ! See where YOUR money is going to be wasted!
Shared Male and Female Changing Area? – Clearly an issue for many and a grave concern where child protection is concerned NELC you can't be serious!
And why are the Wet changing rooms on the second floor?
So you want people with wet feet on stairs?
Is this Burnetts better access for the disable, elderly and infirm ?
Have these Architect mates of Burnett and Shaw, ever designed a pool before or just house extensions and conservatories? – Villas in Spain ??
Also can NELC tell us just how much of the taxpayer purse have you blown on the 3D model ?
We deserve Better!

“Although it pains me to say this. It doesn't matter how much we protest against the closure of the pool on Scartho Road, and no matter how much we know it is the wrong thing to do, it will happen because the people who can make it happen, have already been paid to make it happen. Ergo, it will happen...”

“Initial look at plans doesn't look promising.
Seven showers ?
No male/female shower facilities
No steam room.
As scartho1869 states-only eight lanes.
As a regular user of scartho baths it can become quite congested.
Poor effort but not unexpected.”

“Save Scartho baths and keep the diving area and and make the Pool GYM and other areas more bigger rather than build a new pool which there won't any diving area for people who want to learn to dive. The local people and schools need this building because it's central for people to get to plus it is on a main bus route. Save money and use it for upgrading the building, We don't want any more housing or expensive apartments which no one can afford. Plus it will keep kids off the street and keep fit”

“This afternoon i made the effort and went to Scartho baths to look at the model of the proposed new pool to be built at the liesure centre......right in front of the existing entrance on cromwell rd.
The architect who came up with the design was speaking more than the councillors present.
I have to say he was talking as though this is a cast iron done deal. Anything critical that was said just seemed to be ignored. Not only is it small and no diving facilitie's the design of the new pool is absolutely awful, and i told them so....a concrete and glass box. As expected attendance was poor due to the fact it was mid-week and people where at work.
I am so ashamed to be served by this council which i may add i voted for...Never again.

“Theres no doubt the facility looks modern. The biggest impression i had was that it was lacking it certainly did not WOW me. Yes it will be new/clean and tidy at at the end of the day it is a basic and small swimming pool, it reminded me of a school swimming pool most of which in this area have been closed down. I am a supportor of scartho baths but im not totally against a new build at the end of the day if i'm impressed i will use it. I was not impressed, with such an investment we should be aiming to replicate pools like the meridian at louth. Wheres the 'fun' pool to attract the families, it looks a half hearted attempt at replicating the meridian, and in comparison it looked boring. Often the lane swimming at scartho is congested and over capacity yet the council expects even more people to use this smaller facility.”
