KEEN cyclists are being sought to lead community bike rides in North East Lincolnshire.

Free training will be provided to local people interested in becoming Sky Ride leaders responsible for leading cyclists of all ages on free rides of between five and 16 miles.

The Sky Ride Local cycle rides are part of British Cycling and Sky's campaign to get more people riding their bikes regularly.

Dave Evans, of Lindsey Roads Cycling Club, is the first Sky Ride leader in North East Lincolnshire, and was part of the 2012 team.

He said: "The social interaction in the groups was vibrant with everyone made to feel welcome, especially riders who attended on their own.

"Another great feature is that any bike will do as long as it is roadworthy, with a safety check being carried out before the ride starts.

"To be a successful Sky Ride leader you need the ability to get on with people, to be clear when addressing the group, and be an experienced cyclist, all wrapped up with oodles of enthusiasm."

Successful ride leaders will be paid a competitive rate for every Sky Ride they lead and receive full training and support from North East Lincolnshire Council and British Cycling.
