A "NUISANCE" thief – currently behind bars for a string of thefts – has been handed an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo).

Penny Piggott, 36, of Abbey Drive East, Grimsby, is over half way through a year's jail term.

She was handed a post-conviction Asbo at Grimsby Magistrates' Court, which will remain upon her scheduled release in October.

Drug addict Piggott was jailed for a year in June for five theft offences, three offences of assault with intent to resist arrest and another of possessing a syringe as an offensive weapon.

The Asbo will last until July 2012.
