TWO sisters went shoplifting after one of them racked up rent arrears of £800, Grimsby magistrates heard.

Jade Kershaw, 18, of Frederick Street, Grimsby, and Jenny Kershaw, 26, of Yarborough Road, Grimsby, admitted stealing fragrance box sets, valued at £300, from Boots, on October 18.

They asked for a similar offence the previous day to be considered.

Rebecca Perrin, mitigating, said Jade Kershaw's benefit claim had been stopped and she had built up debts, including about £800 in rent arrears.

She was "desperate" because bills were mounting up and would have sold the items to pay whatever debts she could. Her sister, mother-of-three Jenny Kershaw, who is pregnant again, helped her in the thieving.

Jade Kershaw, who had no previous convictions, was given a two-month 7pm to 7am curfew and Jenny Kershaw, whose convictions included being jailed for 20 months for robbery in July 2010, was given a four-month curfew.

Both must pay £20 costs and a Government-imposed £60 victims' surcharge.

“So....how much was her arrears, when she started thieving compared to when she got caught,as it was claimed she was fencing the goods ,I think it very unlikely that it was used for rent”

“These sort of people are a complete drain on the taxpayer. No job, no intention of getting a job. Do they realise that if everybody did what they do and steal, there would be no products on the shelf to steal!!!
These sisters are obviously very thick”

What a sorry state of affairs we are in. Why do we allow these sort of people to breed?

    More Jeremy Kyle fodder.”
