"WHEN I got off the plane and saw Lapland for the first time, I thought I was dreaming – it was just so magical"

Those were the words of just one child whose dream When You Wish Upon a Star made come true with their annual trip to meet Santa in his winter wonderland.

As reported, 27 local children with serious or life-limiting illnesses, were whisked away on the special plane to Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, eager to take in the festive magic and allow all thoughts of doctors' appointments and gruelling treatments to become a distant memory.

They were joined by other poorly children from across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire, their parents and carers as well as a host of TV celebrities.

For more about their magical day, see today's Grimsby Telegraph.

“What a fantastic adventure this must have been for all who visited Lapland, especially the children, something they will never forget. A wonderful and amazing job done by all the people involved, you should be very proud of what you have achieved again, my heart goes out to all of you.”
