Despite singing from an early age and taking part in numerous competitions, Jaz says she has never sung to a crowd as large as the numbers expected to turn out for the Grimsby Telegraph-led event.

She said: "It's a big audience. It's going to be a little different to what I've done before.

"I want to sing at least one Christmas song."

As reported our Go To Town This Christmas campaign is in association with Freshney Place Shopping centre, North East Lincolnshire Council, Lincs FM and Compass FM.

It is hoped the scheme will encourage more people to use local stores and businesses this festive season.

A great selection of events are being held, including a Christmas food market in Victoria Street and a Christmas fair at Grimsby Minster on Thursday and Friday.

As reported Jake Storr, nominated by you, has been crowned our Local Hero and will get the chance to switch on the Christmas lights and mark the start of late night shopping.

Jaz is a keen charity fundraiser and has taken part in various activities to help raise money.

This year she has raised almost £2,000 for the Elpida Shelter of Hope – a charity that rescues stray dogs off the streets of Greece and re-homes them across Europe and the USA.

Jaz said: "I chose this charity because I love dogs. We have even adopted two from the charity."

Jaz raised some of the money by busking on the streets of York and Lincoln, and managed to raise £200 in just one weekend.

"Busking was just one fundraising idea. I also helped held a car boot stall and organised a charity concert."

Jaz will be singing from 6.45pm on Thursday.
