EVERY step and every breath Adele Tulloch takes in a charity walk will be for her son Lewis.

The seven-year-old died from an incurable kidney tumour in 2003, and nine years on, Adele will be among a group of eight workmates from The Yorkshire Bank taking part in the St Andrew's Hospice Sleepwalk.

Adele, of Cleethorpes, has been preparing for the 11-mile night-time route on July 6 by getting exercise on her mountain bike in the Binbrook area, using the Wolds hills to build her stamina.

She also goes on regular walks with Lewis' pet dog, Jessie, a Jack Russell.

Adele, whose other son Joseph, 12, comforted Lewis in his final days, said: "Lewis suffered from cancer, so the Sleepwalk is an appeal close to our hearts.

"He spent a few days in the children's hospice. He was well impressed by it. It is a most wonderful place. It was amazing for both my children. Joseph was three years old at the time and was able to have some quality time with his brother.

"He lost a lot of time with his brother because he was away in hospital a lot. It was better in the hospice. We took him there and we were all able to be together."

Yorkshire Bank has sponsored hospices in all the towns where it runs branches, and each penny the team in Grimsby raises will be matched by it.

They will be wearing the slogan "Y B Asleep?" on the ladies-only walk.

Adele said several members of her family had previously completed the walk.

"There is no reason not to and I was very pleased so many of the bank staff have been able to join in," she said.

"We hold cake days and dress down days for the hospice appeal."

Register for the event by completing a form available from the hospice on 01472 350908 or at www.standrewshospice.com and return it with a fee of £12 per person to secure a place.

Any men wishing to pledge support by marshalling the event should phone 01472 350908, extension 265, or e-mail angela.greenfield@nhs.net
