Soldier charged with causing death while under influence of alcohol
AN IMMINGHAM man will appear at crown court charged with causing death by driving without due care and attention.
Ben Southall, 20, who is currently serving in the Army and based in Dorset, was charged with causing the death of student Ben Andrews on May 7 while under the influence of alcohol.
He appeared at Dorchester Crown Court to face the charge along with charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm causing actual bodily harm.
He will reappear for a hearing at the crown court on November 12.

The motorist who was killed was driving a Volkswagen car when it was involved in a head-on crash at the A354 Pimperne roundabout near Blandford, Dorset.
Laura Haskell, who was sitting in the front passenger seat suffered a broken neck and other fractures.
She said she was not told of the death of her friend until a couple of days later.
"You could just tell him anything. He wouldn't tell a single soul. He gave the best advice and the best hugs," she said.
"Everyone says he had a heart of gold."
