A CLEETHORPES fish and chip shop was transformed into a Spanish tapas haven – but even the latino chefs conceded nobody does fish like the English.

Omar Allibhoy and Danni Campos are travelling all over England for their proposed TV show, the Tapas Revolution.

On Saturday, they arrived with their film crew at Ernie Beckett's in the Market Place, to learn how to cook fish and chips English style.

Afterwards, they treated customers to the Spanish version.

Danni said: "We came here to show people another variation of fish and chips – the Spanish version.

"I love the taste of Grimsby fish, it is the best. We live in London, and it is nowhere near as good.

"For me, fish and chips is my favourite English dish."

“So Ernie Becketts is the best? Maybe they used to be, perhaps we just go at the wrong time of day, we had to throw the last 2 lots of chips straight in the bin, not been back since - maybe re-heated half-cooked spuds is okay with some, but not with me, and maybe they should think about changing the oil for something less dung-like!!”

“He is trying to keep a low profile,Gerry. Something to do with previous indiscretions. Personally,I prefer Steels across the road.”

“So Lord Lucan is in retirement on a stall in Wonderland Market? At 76 years old he can't appear such a striking figure as previously because I've never spotted him there.”
