VITAL funds were raised for a local cancer sufferer at a fun day in Scartho.

Hundreds of people turned out in support of brave mum-of-three, Natasha Clark, 36, of Yarborough Road, Grimsby.

As reported, Natasha has been told she will never be able to beat the breast cancer which has spread to her lungs.

She is currently receiving revolutionary treatment on the NHS which could prolong her life, Avastin.

But if the treatment is not successful, Natasha, may have to pay for other treatments that.

The Fun Day, held at Scartho Rugby Club raised money for the trust fund, which has been set up in case this happens.

It will also help Natasha's children, Reece, 10, Joshua, 7, and Ashlea, 4 and husband Carl, if Natasha's treatment is unsuccessful.

Natasha said she was 'touched' by the overwhelming support shown by the local community.

She said: "I have started taking Avastin and had two sessions so far but we won't know how successful it is until I have another session and scan in five weeks time.

"If the treatment doesn't work there are others available and that is why we need to keep the fundraising going. If I have to try something else it means we have enough money to start the treatment straight away.

"The day and the efforts everyone has made have been fantastic - there have been lots of people here all day.

"The kids know what it is about so it is nice they can take part and enjoy the day.

"Just being here with family and friends and even people we don't know has been great. People can't do enough."

The day was organised by close friends Vicki Hubbard and Jayne Butler.

And although the day was an emotional one, they said it had been a great success.
