TOP comedians, bands and productions are coming to Grimsby as part of the Auditorium's new season.

The Cromwell Road venue has recently announced details of its jam-packed calendar for 2008 to 2009.

Newly-appointed general manager Diane Belding said: "We have something for everyone, from comedy, opera and pantomime, to musicals, rock concerts, and family shows."

Diane, who worked at the venue as box office manager and deputy manager before securing her current role, previously worked as an administrator on Grimsby Docks.

She became involved in theatre through her father.

"I have always had a love of entertainment and music," she said.

"As a child I was always taken to the pantomime, I can remember attending pantos at Cleethorpes' Pier – but that shows my age!"

Diane claims her season highlights will be Shaolin Wheel of Life – the ultimate kung-fu performance – and family favourite, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

“No, that is certainly not allowed. Going to see the Hoosiers simply prolongs the life of the worst band in the country. By all means go and see Joe Brown.”

“Thanks for the permission Sinko, although appreciated, not needed. Can't wait to come back and see Joe Brown, I remember him from the 60's. I also enjoy The Hoosiers too. (is that allowed)?”

“The Devil's Advocate - it is understandable, and we residents of Grimsby forgive you for deserting us in our darkest hours. Now though we have a wide variety of acts, from Scooby Doo to Joe Brown. So leave the wastelands of York, with it's needless Theatres, museums, and galleries, and come and enjoy the finest entertainment in the whole of North East Lincolnshire (well the best in the Willows anyway).”

“SINKO - My secret is out, I left Grimsby because it is a cultural desert. I expected a varied and colourful array of entertainment, none was forthcoming, so I upped and left. Sorry.”

“Cheers Gerry. As for Devil's Advocate - no that doesn't entitle you to comment on this site. It merely shows that you thought so little of GY that you chose to leave. Was it because of all the poor acts on at the Auditorium. Yes I agree there should be something for everyone, but how many tribute bands do we need?”
