PATIENTS can now access health and social care information on the world wide web – from within their local GP practices.

The services4me website, being displayed on touch-screen units, has been officially launched at the Raj Medical Centre, in Laceby Road, Grimsby.

It will also be welcomed at Church View, Pilgrim Practice and Freshney Green Practice as a pilot project offering easy access to information on home care services, transport and leisure, benefits, caring and work.

Dr Rakesh Pathak, of the Raj Medical Centre, said: "It's fantastic. It is going to be a real asset to the community and hopefully it will help their wellbeing.

"It's a stop-off point that patients can access easily.

"We have a footfall of more than 200 patients a day, so it is a good place for patients to come in and have a go.

"I can imagine this catching on and, in the future, it could be found everywhere in Lincolnshire."

The website – www.services4.me.uk, which can be also accessed through normal means – can be used by everyone, whether they are self-funding care, are a carer or simply want to find out more about adult health services.

Sarah Avery, the transforming care communications manager at North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus, said: "Services 4me.uk aims to give people that help and support and the tools they need to be more independent.

"The public can self access information and advice in a range of areas. They can control their own health care to a certain extent with the website."
