Having only really just discovered real Indian food these last few months I thought I would try a takeaway meal from the new Indian Kitchen in Cleethorpes.

The Indian Kitchen has been well established in our resort for many years when it was situated on Alexandra Road. And of course it was now moved to it's newly refurbished position at 1 High Street.

On entering the restaurant it looked fantastic the decor and furnishings look fantastic. The place was buzzing, they were turning people away who had not booked,  and although it was packed with customers eating in there was plenty of very helpful waiting staff to tend to them.

We were asked to sit in a nice relaxing seating area and choose our meals.

Being a vegetarian does restrict my choices wherever I eat but there was plenty of choose from their extensive menu.

We chose freshly cooked poppadoms, onion bhajis and a selection of pickles. Then shah vegetable massala, gaoon ke sabazi, saag peneer, saag aloo and rice.

And all I can honestly say is that everything was fresh and  'absolutely delicious'.

There was more than even for three people and for just over £20 it was really good value.

I am hoping to get all my family together so we can go out together, to the Indian Kitchen and eat in for a treat.  At a 'kitchen' I won't be washing up in!

For more information or to book a table which I would recommend tel 01472 601533.

“we booked a table at indian kitchen last week, we arrived at 8.20pm and was seated straight away, we didnt get drinks or anyone to take our order until 9pm. we then waited until 10pm for our food, we was by this time passed it, our soft drinks were flat and stuff was added to our bill, so please if you visit there check your bill as someone had warned me that they do this and they tried it with us, the food was ok but 2 of our party was poorly afterwards. certainly wont be going back.”

“I absolutely love the Indian Kitchen's food, however, I ordered a take away from them since their new place opened and it took 3 hours to be delivered. I was given lame excuses every time I phoned and eventually they offered me a discount. We still paid £20 for 2 curries, 2 rice, a naan and onion bahji so I'm not sure what actual discount we got. I had already booked a table for 12 for my birthday and was considering cancelling because of the disappointing take away but gave them the beneift of the doubt as they've always been great before.

We went for the meal and we were not asked if we wanted drinks, not sat in a nice area and tended to in the way I would expect, instead we were left in the corner to fend for ourselves, it wasn't unti we had to ask them to bring us drinks that they did (45 minutes later). The food then took an age to come out, service was terrible, toilets not finished off properly and again crammed in like sardines all to get more money!! I thought that with this being a bigger establishment and not like the typical corridor Indian eateries in the area that we would have the space and not feel like we were in people's way. All in all a disappointment. Such a shame because the food is brilliant!”

“As a lover of & enthusiastic amateur cook of, food from the Indian sub-continent, I found this an interesting piece, though one which raises its own questions.

My own question being, precisely what does "authentic" mean ?

Few "Indian" restaurants are the real deal. Overwhelmingly, the majority of "Indian" restaurants in UK are in fact Sylheti Bangladeshi.

I don't think that theres anything wrong with that, as long as everyone knows it.

I really don't understand why Bangladeshi restaurants seem so reluctant to market themselves as such, after all, many Chinese restaurants readily proclaim their style of cuisine i.e. Cantonese, Szechuan etc.

Whilst Nepalese restaurants are justifiably proud of their "Gurkha" curries.”

What about (Mumbai) or Bombay. That's odd isn't it?

They have a dish called Bombay Aloo.....that's Bombay potato isn't it?

That's like having Yorkshire, Lancashire or Bakewell potatoes......crazy!

Anyway, just as a bonus try this delicious Bombay Aloo Recipe
