YOUTH was to the fore at the Grimsby and District Squash Championships.

England junior international Hamish Falconer (Millfields) won the Premiership final at the Cleethorpes Cricket Club courts.

The 14-year-old defeated last year's winner, Dave Ball (AFSquash), 3-0.

In a match characterised by long rallies, it was Falconer who found the winning shots more consistently.

Sam Haycock (ME Sports Coaching), also 14, took the division one title, defeating Meirion Yeoman (Global Travel Deals) 3-0.

Darren Aitkins (Goshtech) got the better of Paul Matthewman (AFSquash) to collect the Division Two award.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, and certainly the most exciting final, was in the division three competition where number four seed Harry Falconer (Advance Truck Components) won a thrilling match 3-2 against Andy Germaney (Wide Awake Boys).

Tireless running from 11-year-old Falconer, also an England junior international, pulled him through.

In addition, Falconer picked up the Young Player of the Year award.

Results (winners' names first): Premiership final: Hamish Falconer, Dave Ball; division one final: Sam Haycock, Meirion Yeoman; division two final: Darren Aitkins, Paul Matthewman; division three final: Harry Falconer, Andy Germaney.

The divisional winners were also presented with their trophies.

The Premier Division winners were Millfields and the division one kings were Murray Burns.

Top of the pile in division two were Goshtech, while the leading lights in division three were Norfolk Optics, who edged out Wide Awake Boys.
