Talented soloists take to the stage at town's Minster

TWO talented young soloists will perform alongside the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir and Humberston Singers at Grimsby Minster.

Up-and-coming musicians Megan Thompson, who plays violin, and cellist Rachel Twomey will take to the stage at the musical concert on Saturday, March 16.

In addition to the solo performances, both the Humberston Singers and Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir will be singing a variety of songs.

At the end of the concert, the soloists will be joining the two choirs and a surprise guest soloist will appear for the uplifting finale.

Megan is a student at Caistor Grammar School and after her A-levels in June, she intends to complete a music diploma. She is the leader of the MAPAS Eclectic String Group and Orchestra and also leads the Caistor Grammar Senior String Ensemble and Orchestra.

Rachel, who is playing the cello at the event, is also a student at Caistor Grammar School and is studying for her AS levels.

She is studying the piano as well as the cello and is a member of Yorkshire Young Musicians, where she receives tuition from Tim Smedley.

She is also a member of the Senior Strings Group at Caistor Grammar and the Lincolnshire Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Rachel said: "I am very passionate about music and would like to study at a conservatoire after completing my A-levels."

Tickets are £7.50 and the concert begins at 7.30pm.
