Substitute Andy Cook netted the only goal of the game just six minutes after his introduction to give Grimsby their first ever three points against Tamworth at The Lamb Stadium.

The visitors had not registered a victory in the six meetings between the sides and they had the best chances of the first half, Joe Colbeck with two long range efforts while Ross Hannah's left-footed effort forced Tamworth keeper Tony Breedon into a fine save.

Grimsby had signed Marcus Marshall on loan from Bury earlier in the week and the debutant found himself in the referee's notebook just before half-time for a foul on Lloyd Kerry.

Just after the hour mark the visitors grabbed the vital goal when Joe Colbeck teed up Cook for his second of the season, to continue the Mariners' impressive away form.
