"THIS is a surgery our patients deserve."

Those were the words of Dr Omar Qureshi, who expressed his delight at the new Taylor's Avenue Medical Centre, in Cleethorpes, during its official opening yesterday.

Dr Qureshi joined Dr Mushtaq Zaro's practice in December as an independent GP and feels "privileged" to begin his career in a "magnificent building".

He said: "I have worked in Grimsby since 2005, in hospital medicine at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

Urgently seeking two / four bedroom properties for our lengthy list of possible suitable tenants with the lowest fees in town and excellent turn around rate for sourcing and managing.

"I know Dr Zaro has waited a long time for this new centre and he believes the wait has been worth it.

"Our patients deserve to have this high-standard GP surgery."

The official opening had various delegates of North East Lincolnshire in attendance.

From ward councillors, developers and planners to medical staff and Grimsby Town goalkeeper James McKeown who cut the ribbon to declare the centre open.

He said: "It is nice to be invited to do things like this.

"Everyone will need a doctor at some point and this centre looks fantastic and I'm sure will be good for both current and new patients.

"Attending events like this is my way, as a Grimsby Town player, of giving back to the community who support us."

The centre also houses Dr Sylvere Dijoux and partners.

Dr Dijoux believes this new build is a significant change and will benefit patients in the community.

"The surgery is spacious and the car park has plenty of room as well," he said.

"Although we have moved to a new facility, patient care will always remain the same to a high standard."

Dr Dijoux's patient, Jean Bilsby, of Humberston, said: "I have good and bad thoughts towards this new centre.

"It is further away than my previous one, so I have to find transport and the buses are not very convenient to get here.

"However, I think this new centre will benefit the community, it is clean, very smart and I felt comfortable inside it."

Each surgery in the centre has two GP rooms, a nurse practitioners and district nurses' room, and there is also a shared minor surgery treatment room.

There is a Spar shop and off-licence on site for the public to use. The surgery will be open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6.30pm.

To book an appointment with Dr Dijoux, call 01472 572424 and for Dr Zaro and Dr Quereshi, call 01472 572400.

“Glad to hear one Doctor kept his patients informed of the move - maybe Dr Dijoux can learn something from Dr Zarro ??”

“I am a patient of Dr Zaro's and have been since Dr Zaro took over from Dr Cromby all those many years ago! I have been kept informed all the way via text message. I also receive text messages when I make an appointment and reminders of that appointment, so all in all a good service as far as I am concerned.”

“I am a patient of Dr Zaro and was informed of the new surgery hours and the new surgery opening times via a text message. I get text messages confirming appointments and also appointment reminders, so I felt I was very well informed and kept up to date.”

“Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks patients should have been informed.
"THIS is a surgery our patients deserve" ?? Yes - if they can find it.

The old telephone number has simply been disconnected - no message giving the new number or even the out of hours number - sorry but that is disgusting!
I went to the new surgery to collect a prescription and when I asked why we weren't notified the change of address the receptionist pointed to the prescription I was collecting and said "the new address is on there"......................SAD!!
It's not as if its the first venture of its kind in this area - they go to great lengths to point out how long its taken to plan, with so much previous experience to call on you would think they could manage to tell the people it is intended to serve - both these Practices should know better.”

“Ha! It's good to know that it's open now. My family has been a member of the practice Dijoux took over in North Sea Lane and they haven't been informed of it even being near completion, let alone been given contact information and times of it being open. Who's to say they're still on the books?

I will pass on the number to my family now because far as they're aware, the old surgery still exists.”

“How sad that patients weren't important enough to be notified directly of the change of address. Not everyone reads the newspapers.”
