Teams needed to secure future of Saturday League
THE Grimsby and District Football League is still appealing for new teams to join to ensure it does not fold.
The future of the 116-year-old league was cast into doubt earlier this year with a lack of interest leading to falling numbers.
The league's AGM will take place tomorrow – with officials keeping their fingers crossed that more teams will declare an interest in signing up.
Secretary Trevor Albery (above) said: "The Grimsby and District Football League needs new blood in order to function.
"Without it, there is a very real chance that it will not survive.
"If the unthinkable happens, then where will our local Northern Counties teams get their players from, as this particular pond will be dry?"
