BANK customers have been turned away from the HSBC branch in Cleethorpes throughout the day as staff worked to correct a "technical fault".

Fears over a potential security breach have been played down by bosses at the Seaview Street branch as they prepared to re-open the bank later this afternoon.

An HSBC spokesman said: "There is no cause for concern, the problem is a technical fault and we are hoping to start letting people in before the close of play today. We are currently awaiting the arrival of an engineer."
