'Time for town to pull together'
"LET'S bang the drum for Immingham and put some pride back into our town."
That is the call to action from Cllr Stewart Swinburn as he helped launch the Immingham In Bloom campaign.

The competition has arrived in the town following the success of In Blooms in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, which saw competition judges applauding the efforts of the council, residents and business people for transforming their towns into spectacular oases of colour.
As reported, Cleethorpes won the coastal category, with Grimsby scooping a fantastic first place in the small city category in their first year of entering.
Cllr Swinburn is now hoping for similar results for Immingham.
He said: "Our In Bloom campaign will certainly put a lot of pride back into the town .
"For too long there has been a lot of negativity surrounding Immingham, it is now time for the people of this great town to all pull together and do something to improve their environment."
The campaign's launch saw work begin on a new flower bed on Pelham Road, and the announcement of initial regeneration ideas, including plans to have flower baskets hung on each lamp-post along the main road.
Immingham In Bloom has already received £6,000 worth of funding by ConocoPhillips, which is to be matched by the town council.
Now organisers are hoping that other local businesses will get involved.
Cllr Swinburn said: "ConocoPhillips have been very supportive and have helped to give us a fantastic head start but we really do need everyone to get involved.
"We are appealing to local business to sponsor the campaign and help us transform the town. I would ask anyone who wants to get involved to please get in touch."
He is also appealing for people to join the Immingham In Bloom committee.
For more information on how to get involved, sponsor the campaign or to get involved, contact Cllr Swinburn on (01469) 576899 or phone Immingham Town Council on (01469) 572763.

“Perhaps Conoco Phillips could be a bit more "SUPPORTIVE" in the village of South Killingholme, the village that their refinery has blighted over the last 30 or so years.
Regards Immingham in bloom , what about the roundabout at Killingholme which they adopted to put their advertisement on and then dumped it after it became neglected some years ago?
Industry should take care of the people who have to put up with the pollution and danger that they create, not building football stadiums for people who don't live here.”

“Derek Immingham in Bloom is a North East Lincs project although it is supported by the town council. I think the meeting you want is at the town hall in Grimsby”

“Well done about time some money was spent in the town,
it needs investment ( NOW )
But why isnt the ward councillors telling the truth, They stated that the regeneration of the shopping precinct was taken place 2010 ( this isnt true it another 3 / 5 years away when are you telling the people,
The north east licolnshire council rejected the planning application, What is going on,
Could someone telling me when the next council meeting is I want to ask the question ?”

“I agree with Capt Sensible, a few pretty flowers is not going to make this place any better and I also agree with Sceptical, it's disgusting what has been happening and I give it a few days too until the scum bags think "oh wow, we've got something else to play with now"!! They should concentrate on the bigger picture like the Civic Centre before they prat about with flowers! Don't get me wrong, it's a start, but it's about time the Council started thinking about Immingham and not just leaving it to rot! COME ON PEEPS, PULL YOUR FINGERS OUT!!!!”
