THE building previously occupied by the Conservative Association will be sold off - despite assurances that its closure was only temporary.

The building is being sold through Clark Weightman Commercial Property Consultants, which is based in Hull.

The latest development comes a week after the resignation of acting chief executive of the Association, Steve Norton.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr Norton was keen to stress that his resignation had nothing to do with the sale of the building.

He said: "I confirmed my resignation at an executive meeting last week and I made the decision for personal reasons and nothing more than that."

As reported, the party's headquarters on Grimsby's Bargate was closed in January after problems with the building's electrics and wiring. It remains closed.

Read more about the sale - and comments from angry former users of the building, in today's Grimsby Telegraph.

    “Demos. Grimsby.

We've had 13 years of blaming the conservatives for everything when they aren't even in power, don't you think you should start to look at the real cause of this country's problems. LABOUR.”

“Steve Norton is going to spend his time getting Tricky Vicky Ayling elected for Grimsby. Is this the same Steve Norton who promotes and works for the Grimsby Fish Docks?
Is this the same Tory candidate whose party have said that they will close down Yorkshire Forward, regional funding and the source of much of Grimsby,s development money to send it down south?
I think we need to know!”

    “With reference to T. Mickleburgh. 2nd March 2010. 18..01.

So i suppose it's ok for Brown and Co to take money from their paymasters the Unions but the Conservatives can't sell off property which belongs to the local Conservatives and not the Conservative party?

I think Mr Mickleburgh should mind his own business as i very much doubt that the tories would even consider someone with his views as a member so he obviously knows nothing about their finances.

Perhaps Tim should tell us what happened to the labour parties £11.5 million overdraught that they were reported to have a few months ago, has it been paid off if so what with?

Regards everything the Tories touching being a disaster, where has this fool been the last 13years? does he really think that the unelected PM has been such a success?
The economy is ruined, we owe a fortune (and this is rising at an alarming rate) due to having to keep the workshy who continue to treat the working people like fools.

Please Mr Mickleburgh when you are qualified to comment on this subject we will look forward to what you say, in the meantime don't insult the very people who subsidise your very existance.

P.S. Any one know what time the library closes surely it's before 18.01?”

“Sue Neul for MP...And I aint joking! I have known Sue for many years, certainly since the late 80's, and had the pleasure to work with her at The Duke of Wellington some years back.
She is a fine, respectable, and respected member of the community, who has known what it is like to live on the breadline, who knows what it is like to be a mum in this town, and has known hardship and adverity and come through all of it with a smile. She is a prime example of what was once typical of Grimsby spirit, pride and passion. I for one would vote for her. Go for it Sue!”

“Best part of 12,000 quid went their way from Ashcroft's millions and they still make a pig's ear of it. Shysters, every single one of 'em. I wouldn't let any single one of this Tory bunch run a raffle, never mind the country.”
