MARKET Rasen RPC Town band are blowing their own trumpet – after reaching the finals of 2010 National Brass Band competition.

After hitting the right notes with the judges at the Midlands Regional Championships in March – where they were placed second – they will now go on compete against 20 other finalists for the title of 4th Section National Brass Band Champions.

Musical Director Alan Needham, said: "For such a relatively small catchment area, qualification is in itself, a remarkable and well deserved achievement.

"This will be the first time in our history that the band has attended the national championships.

The competition will take place at the Harrogate Concert Centre on September 26.

The band will be holding a pre-contest concert at De Aston School on Sunday, September 19 at 7pm, when the band will perform the set test piece – their last public performance before the big day.
