Towns need a revamp to pull in more visitors
WHAT is happening to our town? It was and still is great in some areas.
As you get into town, the flowers along the route both to Grimsby and Cleethorpes look beautiful.
But get to Freeman Street and it is a different story.
Fair enough, empty shops and things, but right in the middle is the White Bear, which sticks out.

It was once one of the most popular places to be for fishermen, Navy people and everyone else.
It still is, but take a look at the entrance and it's enough to put anyone off.
A lick of paint or clean-up wouldn't go amiss. We had visitors from Canada and different places recently and wanted to show them the White Bear but they wouldn't even go near it. They liked the market and everywhere else.
It's a shame it's got to this state. Freeman Street was, and still is, a good place to be.
We don't like the precinct up town so use this area a lot.
Also, we went to Cleethorpes and the Wonderland area is just the same.
They should bring it up to the same standard it used to be.
A lot more people would come to the resort, I know I worked in Wonderland and it used to be packed with bus trips and train visitors.
Our visitors loved the other end of Cleethorpes, but it should be the same all the way along.
Come on Grimsby and Cleethorpes get visitors in the resorts, not put them off coming.
Name and address supplied.
The Telegraph says
As the years go by, times change and so do the fortunes of different areas of our towns. Freeman Street and north Cleethorpes are cetainly not what they were!

“For doG's sake -- don't you KNOW what's the matter with this "dermp" and WHY?
...as Betty Davis would have said! And DID say, of another -- better than this.”
