TOMORROW we pay tribute to a 93-year-old Cleethorpes man who flew with the Dambusters and in the Battle of Britain.

Warrant Officer Rowland Smith - known to all as Ron - was just 19 when he joined the Air Force as a rear gunner, or Tail End Charlie, which was one of the most dangerous roles in the Force.

“Without brave men and woman like Ron we wouldn't have the freedom we enjoy today. Condolences to Ron's family.”
