TRIBUTES have been paid to a shining light of the local music scene.

Mother-of-two Chez Nash, 51, from Wollaston Road, Cleethorpes, died from cancer on Tuesday.

The former taxi driver and barmaid at the Spider's Web pub, Cleethorpes, will be best remembered for playing in local bands such as Starvin' Sid and the Infernal Blues, and later in The Honey Badgers.

Her husband, John, 50, said: "She lived in Cleethorpes her whole life and went to the local grammar school and art college.

"She always had an interest in art and did a lot of paintings.

"She organised a lot of events, including an alternative Live Aid at The Submarine Pub, in Cleethorpes, and transformed the Spider's Web pub to put on a pantomime to raise money for Dr Mack's Cancer Fund. She organised it right from the start to finish."

She be fondly remembered as mum to Ben, 27, and Kai, 33 and grandmother to Ellie 10.

Ben said: "She was a fine mum.

"She was not what you would call a 'mumsy' mum, but a good friend as well.

"I remember her taking me along to Glastonbury at eight, and going on a trip around Australia, just the two of us.

"When I was older, about 18 or 19, the age divide just was not there. That was the most important thing about her.

"One night, she and dad came home from the pub in the middle of a storm.

"She told us to grab some tins and we all went out and got under a cover on the shed roof, watching the thunder and lightning.

"That moment sums her up."

    “Chez,
we first met when you brought 5 yo Kai to Woodcraft Folk in 1982. What a dynamo of positive energy and love you were. What a shining light in so much darkness. The light still shines probably even more brightly now because it illuminates many many hearts.

It feels like all the very special people are leaving us now but that is an illusion I know.

There are and there will be others but somehow there will never be anyone quite like you.

Peace and love baby! Rock on!

“Chez was responsible for making many a party an unforgettable event, I had the honour and privilege to be part of a number of them and for that I am truly grateful! Chez was an amazing, phenomenal woman who touched so many people with her wit, generosity and unmatchable spirit. My thoughts go out to everyone who was lucky enough to have been touched by her.
Rest in eternal Glastonbury Chez xxx”

“Chez was one of those rare examples of truly creative individuality. Not for her the rules of convention; she lived life as an evolving work of art . Always a great rocker and a highly accomplished 'roller' - a hippy chick of legendary status.
Wherever that great spirit has gone, they'd better be ready to sing, dance, laugh and party like there's no tomorrow.
With that in mind, I intend to celebrate a life well lived, by remembering the richness and colour she brought into my life. Nothing is ever lost that in passing shines a light on the wonder all around us.... and Chez did that like a true master!
    Love you always,
    Stone. X”
