STRANGENESS was spotted in the skies over Cleethorpes this week as two witnesses – one a reporter for the Grimsby Telegraph – saw a UFO.

The incident – which the RAF can't explain – happened on Wednesday afternoon, at around 4.30pm.

Mum of two Gemma Wetherill (26) from Richmond Road said: "I was taking my little boy Camron to go shopping when I saw the objects in the sky.

"We were at the bus stop on Highgate when my boy happened to look up.

"He was quite surprised.

"What I saw above me were two silver cigar shaped objects.

"At first it looked as though one was towing the other.

"When they reached the former Thrunscoe School buildings, they began to separate.

"They made absolutely no noise, nor did they leave any sort of trail like a plane."

It was at this point she got a picture with her mobile phone – and videoed it.

"I watched them until I could not see them anymore."

She added that despite all the air activity people living in Cleethorpes are used to this was different: "I have never seen anything like this before.

"It makes you wonder exactly what is out there."

However she is not alone. The strange objects were also seen in the sky by our very own Cleethorpes reporter Conrad Emmett, driving along Grimsby Road. He said: "I looked up for a second and saw what could have been two objects with lights on them, close together. They didn't look like anything I had seen up in the sky before. The lights were very bright, like floodlights, rather than those you see on a plane.

"However I couldn't look too long, because I didn't want to run anyone over.

"I thought nothing more about it until we got an email from Gemma saying she saw the same thing at the same time."

A spokesperson for the RAF Cranwell said the only traffic in the sky at that time was piloted by the 45 (reserve) squadron – a King Air.

Conrad said: "I'm sure that they are not what I saw. Just makes you wonder exactly what we saw..."

“My wife and I both saw 2 bright lights to the North East of us (Grimsby direction) that at first appeared to be high altitude aircraft lit by the low Sun and giving a strong metallic reflection. We both remarked that it was unusual for us to hear nothing from these "planes". The objects were too far away to see any detail, but were possibly saucer/cigar shaped. The objects were moving in formation with one of them trailing the other and across to the front objects right hand side.

I was going to get my binoculars out but I did not bother as I couldn't remember where I had left them. it was a bit of a shock to read about it in the Telegraph. I'm sure lots of people must have seen this across the County.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if it was high altitude military activity of some sort. Do the RAF normally confirm what they are doing?”

“For the the doubters out there. Go do some research into the ufo phemomena before leaving disparraging remarks. Documented sightings of UFOs go back to biblical times. The romans and greeks for instance described them as flying shields or discs. There is a wealth of information available to you online so go on, have a dabble, you never know, you might just be enlightened!”

“Ref 'UFO's": My partner called me out to the garden at about half four on Wednesday to point out the two objects in the sky. He observed that they were unusually close together and didn't look like the usual plane. I just thought they were jets as they were quite high and said there must be manoeuvres going on. He continued to watch and said they were close for a while and then began to separate though continuing in the same direction, he also thought it strange that there was no jet stream or sound. There was another plane going the opposite way but that did have a jet stream. The only thing I found odd was that they were extremely bright white but thought the sun above the clouds might have done that?”

“What on earth has RAF Cranwell got to do with it. They have no radar coverage in this area.”

“I saw them too, but I thought that it was two aircraft. They appeared to have their landing lights on. Has anyone thought to check with Humberside Radar. Of course I may be wrong and it was really alien invaders coming to enslave us all.”
