Grimsby man in serious condition after car crashes into lamppost (update)
A DRIVER was last night in hospital in a serious condition after his car hit a lamppost yesterday morning, pictured right.
Police believe that the 57-year-old man from Grimsby was taken ill at the wheel before his black Ford Focus collided with the street lamp on Estate Road One, Grimsby, at 6.53am.
East Midlands Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and the motorist was taken to Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.
Humberside Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A spokesman said: "A black Ford Focus was in collision with a lamppost.
"The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old man from Grimsby, is believed to have been taken ill at the wheel.
"He has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition."
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 64 of Monday, March 18.
