Classic films on show
FILM buffs have the chance to dip into a classic archive with the launch of a new club showing films of yesteryear on the big screen.
Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes is starting up the First Tuesday Club, which aims to show a film from its classic library on the first Tuesday of every month.
The 1942 hit Casablanca has been shown already, and Fred Astaire's dance classic Top Hat, and iconic musical hit Show Boat are still to come before the end of the year.
Cinema owner Gerald Parkes is the brains behind the club.
He said: "A few years back I helped to get the Louth Film Club underway at the Playhouse.
"We often had a mixture of classical films from the classic library and the club has grown and is now run by the members entirely.
"It occurred to me that with nine screens and the population of Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham we could perhaps develop something similar here."
Michael Whittaker (47), from Cleethorpes, enjoyed seeing Casablanca on the big screen.
He added: "It is about the fifth time I have seen it but the first time in the cinema.
"It was good to see it in its original frame but on the big screen, and this is a club I am definitely interested in coming back to."
