Upset cat owner pleads for return of treasured pet she believes was stolen
THIS heartbroken cat owner is pleading for the return of her treasured pet, who she believes was stolen just over a month ago.
Lara Hattle, of Grimsby's Abbey Park Road, hasn't seen her fluffy white chinchilla Persian, Coby, since Sunday, February 3.
She says Coby's disappearance is completely out of character.
"He has never run off before. This is why I think he has been taken by someone.

"He is so friendly, all my neighbours know him. It's just not right for him to vanish.
Lara has been exhaustively searching for her pet with the help of friends and family.
"We have all been looking. Even my neighbours are looking out for him. I have put adverts in the Telegraph, put up posters all over and I have asked people on Facebook to look out for him.
"I am constantly looking for him. If I hear a cat outside I have to go and see if it's Coby."
Lara says the day he went missing was just like any other.
"I last saw him at 10.30am on the Sunday. I went out for three hours and came home. I called out for him but he never came back. He is always out in the street or he will wait for me at the door.
"It wasn't like him not to come see me and by the evening I knew something wasn't right.
"He also needs daily medication which he now hasn't had since the Sunday he went missing."
She says regardless of who has Coby, she just wants him back.
"If you or someone you know has him please give him back, it's heartbreaking not having him home.
"You can call me and I will come and get him or hand him in if you don't want to call me.
"All the local vets and rescue centres are aware of Coby, if you take him in they won't ask any questions. I just want him back, I miss him so much."
Lara has received a lot of support from the community, but has also received some unexpected negativity.
"I have had a lot of prank calls about him. One even rang at five in morning and was very nasty to me. The hurtful things one man said left me speechless, there is no need for it.
"All I want is Coby back, why do people feel the need to do that?
"I will continue to look for him and despite people like that I am overwhelmed by how many people are trying to help find him.
Please call me on 07850 263542 or hand him in anonymously.

“following this story he was returned to me safe and sound. I have had an amazing amount of support from people and am so happy he is home.
Wrangler - cats enjoy going outside. He hated being kept in...however, that does not mean people expect them to be taken from their streets. I understand you run a risk when letting them out but i also believe it is cruel to keep them in when they sit at the door wanting to go out. He is neutered and microchipped so didnt go looking for female companions and was registered to me.
He is very well known in my street and all my neighbours have been looking out for him. The response i received on facebook was overwhelming and im just thankful that the person who had him called me yesterday when they saw this story.
The telegraph are taking a picture this week of him being back home with me :o).
Thank you again for all the support.
Lara”

“Sadly some unscrupulous people would have no qualms in stealing such a beautiful pedigree cat. I hope he was chipped.”

“Oh how strange, I thought I had made the comment that:
If you let you cat out on its own you must accept that bad things can happen!
Can't believe someone reported that and had it removed.”
