VIDEO: Icy weather takes hold in Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire - gritters out now
GRITTING teams throughout Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire are currently treating the area's roads amid warnings of more snow later this week.
The teams will be out for a number of hours and will take to the roads again in the early hours of tomorrow.
The icy conditions have caused chaos the roads, with Lincolnshire Police receiving more than 30 calls this morning.
This was the scene on the A46 between Laceby and Swallow when a car went into a ditch off Grimsby Road at 8.30am.

“have been reading the comments, and would just like to say that not all drivers are lunatics, speed demons, or just not experienced on snow ice etc, the woman involved is an experienced driver having 30 odd years behind the wheel with not one accident to her name untill monday morning, how do i know this?? because i am that woman! i was actually driving my 5 yr old daughter to school at caistor, how dare you comment on someone you do not know or have never seen driving, i spent many years in germany shoulder deep in snow so i have experience of winter driving and drive accordingly especially with my family in the car/4x4, and as i was behind a very cautious lorry driver speed was not involved, the back end went and i steered into the skid to no avail, then i just became a passenger, so i am a tad furious to read ignorant comments, and i just pray that something like this never happens to you and you have to read things like this, thank you to all who helped me out and offered good wishes”

“I drove this stretch of road this morning minutes after this accident happened, It was like an ice rink, even at less than 5mph my tyres just could not get a grip and I was sliding everywhere just like other drivers there this morning. It may have nothing to do with the way they were driving! You would be surprised how people drive during these conditions, everyone I see on the roads are sensible and looking out for each other because no one wants an accident. I dont believe this was the drivers fault at all.. unless you were there experiencing how thick the ice was this morning you really cannot comment. I dont actually think that stretch had been gritted this morning. I hope no one was injured.”

“8/10 for effort!
1/10 for concentration.
It's hardly difficult to ease off the gas, plod at a much lower speed, low revs and to just make steady progress.
1.5t car to up-end like that was NOT "plodding" along.”

“Wow - I drove this road probably 15 minutes before this occurred, travelling from Grimsby to Redbourne.
While the road conditions were tricky - the shaded areas do tend to mean you get grip on one side of the car and not on the other - I didn't think it was overly difficult to drive.
Hope the occupants have escaped injury.”
