Vaus smashes lap record at Lincolnshire circuit
LOUTH kart racer Lucas Vaus dominated the Rotax 125cc Mini-Max field during round six of the summer club championship at the Fulbeck race circuit, near Newark.
It was the first time the 12-year old had been back to the circuit to race since February, in what is only his first year in a new Rotax class.

There was some strong competition and during the practice sessions all the leading contenders put in some consistently quick lap times.
In the qualifying rounds, Vaus set a new club lap record of 46.37 seconds, a record that has stood since 2006.

In the remaining two heats, Vaus performed well to qualify his Alonso OTK kart second on the grid for the main 12-lap race.
Twenty minutes before the start, the heavens opened.
And all the mechanics and drivers were busy changing their kart set-ups ready for a wet race.
Vaus took the lead on the opening 180 degree corner in challenging conditions.
And he led throughout to take the chequered flag by an impressive 5.9 seconds.
Dan Kelly from Evesham took a well-earned second spot with Joseph Jaques, from Doncaster, taking third.
