CHART TOPPERS: The mighty 11-piece band Bellowhead are coming to Scunthorpe.
They released their new album, Broadside, in October, 2012. It entered the album charts at number 16, the highest ever position for an album of traditional based material.
Their latest single, Roll The Woodpile Down, will be released on Monday, and it is probably the first traditional song to make it onto the coveted “A” list on Radio 2’s playlist – where it is currently sitting alongside David Bowie’s acclaimed new song.

This follows on from Bellowhead’s last album Hedonism (2010) which was the highest-selling independently released traditional folk album of all time.
The 11-piece band started performing “for fun” – and is headed by lead singer Jon Boden.
And these top-notch world folk musicians incorporate a swathe of brass, strings, squeezebox and percussion.
Four studio albums, a glut of prestigious awards and sell-out tours... Bellowhead have helped transport traditional folk music into unknown territory.
They have been nominated at this year’s BBC Radio Folk Awards for Best Group and Best Album. In seven previous years they have been nominated as Best Live Band (a category now removed).
