Video: This is England star Thomas Turgoose stars in Maximo Park's new music video
THIS Is England star Thomas Turgoose is currently taking centre stage in a new sort of role – in a music video for alternative rock band Maximo Park.
The former Wintringham School pupil, who shot to acting fame as young skinhead Shaun in the 2006 Brit flick, sings and dances to the single Hips And Lips.
He plays an obsessed Maximo fan who films himself miming along to the song on his computer webcam.
Thomas's character leaps around in his bedroom, mimicking the moves of frontman Paul Smith, and it all seems like harmless fun – until the clip takes a sinister turn.
Towards the end when the cupboard door swings open, it reveals Paul gagged, tied up and in a state of distress.
Hips And Lips is the first single to be lifted from Maximo Park's upcoming fourth studio album The National Health.
The outfit will be hoping for another top ten disc following the success of Our Earthly Pleasures, in 2007, and Quicken The Heart, in 2009.
Talking about Maximo Park's new album, Paul said: "We're in a global recession and everyone is being bombarded with bouncy, happy music.
"The song is about eyes and ears all around us ... that's always been a Maximo Park thing: look at yourself."
This Is England '88, the TV mini series which Tommy starred in, has been nominated for three British Academy Television Awards, and the ceremony takes place on Sunday, May 27, at the Royal Festival Hall.
Joseph Gilgun and Vicky McClure, who play couple Woody and Lol, have been nominated for Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress respectively.
Tommy appeared in This Is England '88, just before Christmas, and is set to appear in a further series of This Is England, this year.
He has also featured in a Coca-Cola advert, running with the London 2012 Olympic Torch.
The single Hips And Lips, and the album The National Health, are out on Monday, June 11.
