Video: Grimsby Town 5 Woking 1 - Mariners brush aside Woking
High-flying Grimsby Town got back on the winning trail by beating 10-man Woking 5-1.
But they made the worst possible start when former Mariner Dean Sinclair netted after only two minutes from 18 yards.

The hosts were level nine minutes later though, when Ross Hannah was fouled by Mike Cestor and Sam Hatton rattled in the resultant free-kick from 20 yards.
The Mariners took the lead after 18 minutes when good work from Andy Cook worked the chance for Craig Disley to net from 20 yards, and it looked game over when Andi Thanoj added a third 11 minutes from the break.

Woking's time was definitely up after 50 minutes when Lee Sawyer challenged Aswad Thomas and saw red for his second bookable offence, with Hatton and Cook grabbing late goals to complete the rout.

“After my comments following the dismal display at Hyde I must give now give credit where credit is due. Apart from the shaky opening minutes when most of us had our head in our hands thinking 'here we go again' Town looked confident and (eventually) put a full shift in. The effort and ideas so sadly missing on Tuesday were there to be seen and it was evident that the team wanted not only 3pts out of the game but also wanted to put in a performance.
Having got ourselves into a truly challenging position this is the time for Town to add consistency to their game - especially at BP. On the road the lads seem to have got a game plan that by and large works for them but home form has been hit and miss. At this stage of the season we are in a great position (albeit all of our nearest rivals have games in hand) and a further solid professional display (against Braintree) this upcoming Saturday at BP should really enable us to kick on for the 2nd half of the season. As that truly great philosopher "Del Boy" would say - 'He who dares - wins'

“Great result.
Promotion is there for the taking in this division.
Too many clubs are dropping points each week.
Put a run together, get your home form decent and pick up the odd away win and we should be there.
Need to sign the loanees though because come January we will stuggle again.”
