Video: Heavy snow hits North East Lincolnshire (updates)
HEAVY snowfall has arrived in North East Lincolnshire this afternoon and is causing disruption across the borough.
A Met Office Amber warning is currently in force for snow and ice and drivers are being advised to be wary of icy stretches on the roads in the area.
During the evening rush hour, problems have been reported on some of the main routes in Grimsby including Cleethorpe Road, Bargate and Peaks Parkway.
North East Lincolnshire Council’s crews are out and about gritting the road networks in the borough in order to minimise disruption.

The council also has teams and equipment on stand-by to treat priority footways in and around town centres.
Meanwhile, the AA is advising drivers not to be complacent, even on local journeys, as its research shows that three-quarters of motorists are ill-prepared for winter weather.
The AA/Populus survey of 20,073 AA members also found that women (83 per cent) are more likely to leave it to chance compared to men (70 per cent).
Andy Smith, AA patrol of the year, says: “The next few days could be a bit of a sharp wake-up call for drivers who aren’t adequately prepared.
"It’s just not worth taking a gamble and it’s no effort to put a few extra warm layers and other winter essentials in the car.
“It’s easy to think of the car as like a big overcoat – a home from home – but winter weather is often quite unpredictable, so in case of an accident or delay, you want to make sure you’re warm, dry and can call for assistance, if required."
