Formed by Steeleye Span’s legendary fiddle player Peter Knight, Gigspanner is now established as a powerful presence at venues and festivals around the UK.
Gigspanner’s material has its roots in the British Isles, but it also takes note of Eastern European, Cajun, African and French influences.

Peter has recently added another string to his bow, as he has been commissioned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to compose music for a very special forthcoming project.
He will be joined by guitarist Roger Flack and percussionist Vincent Salzfaas, both intelligent and powerful musicians in their own right.
The trio’s debut album Lipreading The Poet was named as one of the best 15 “Global” CD’s of 2009 by The Wire magazine.
Mark Sampson, a reviewer, said: “I was never a great one for the folk revival. On Saturday night, however, I was spellbound by the brilliance of the musicianship.
“Just three men and their instruments. It was folk music, Jim, but not as I knew it.”
