LOUTH Town manager Paul Walden has banned any talk of promotion despite the team's 100 per cent start to the Northern Counties East League Division One season.

The White Wolves have won all five games so far – the latest a 3-1 win at Teversal after being one down at the midway point.

It was Town's second win in three days over the bank holiday weekend, but Walden is refusing to get carried away.

He said: "We don't even want to think about it (promotion), let alone talk about it.

"If we find ourselves in a position at the end of the season where we have more points than anyone else with too few games left for them to catch us, then we'll think about it.

"Until then, we are keeping our feet on the ground.

"We have only played five games and there are many more to come against some very good sides.

"Of course, I am delighted with the results, you have to be pleased with a 100 per cent record after five games but that counts for nothing if you don't win the next one."

Town entertain fifth-placed Staveley Miners Welfare today (3pm) in their next outing, looking to make it a perfect half-dozen.

They are at home again on Tuesday against currently unbeaten Bottesford Town at Park Avenue (7.45pm).

In the Northern Counties East League Cup first round, Louth Town have been drawn to play at home to Shirebrook Town.

The game will take place at Park Avenue on Tuesday, October 26 (7.45pm) just four days before the teams meet in the league.
